Second Vote Victory!

80% Vote SEIU YES

 We Did it . . . Again!

Gilbert Town Employees

For the second time in as many months, Gilbert town employees have voted  in favor of SEIU becoming their authorized representative.  On a 251-67 vote, Gilbert town employees voted "SEIU YES," making Gilbert the third East Valley municipality to voice their desire to sit down at the table with management to search for new and innovative ways to provide quality public services to the community.

The second vote was required because the ordinance authorizing the original election, which was passed on a 6-1 vote by the Gilbert Town Council, left the meaning of ‘majority’ open to interpretation. Did ‘majority’ mean a majority of those VOTING or did it mean a majority of ALL Gilbert workers?

On April 29th, the Gilbert Town Council unanimously reconfirmed their original intent -- that a majority of those voting will determine the election’s outcome.

In the re-vote last week, a strong majority did just that.

Congratulations and, once again, welcome to the team!
